Map vs. panel relationship


Problem

It wasn't clear what exactly was the map and panel displaying in relation to each other.

These two fundamental elements were both competing for attention as they both displayed contextually different data. For example, if the map showed distribution of revenue, the panel showed demography data and past years' turnovers...

Originally, this was done in good intention—to broaden the context and provide related and useful information. But “related” and “useful” turned out to be highly subjective and in reality, this was causing lots of confusion with users never being completely sure what are they looking at and how is the information related.
